Non 12 step rehab programs are becoming more and more available. Twenty years ago, there were none. Fortunately, today there are more non 12 step based drug alcohol treatment centers than ever before, and more every day. The drug alcohol rehab industry has come to realize that they were being very short sighted to not have rehab facilities for people who either had tried the 12 step approach, or felt strongly about having God be the major focus of their recovery. Today, is a least one good non 12 step rehab program in every region of the country. Non 12 step rehab use a more therapy based, self-empowering approach. There are several good non 12 step aftercare programs to support people who are not in rehab as well.

Non 12 Step Rehab
Friday, September 24th, 2010Non 12 Step Rehab Program
Friday, July 23rd, 2010Non 12 step rehab programs seems like a no-brainer. A federal judge recently ruled that the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous are a form of religion. Non 12 step rehab programs understand that although the 12 steps do work very well for some, they do not successful for everybody. Not by a long shot. To ask an alcoholic an or a drug addict to accept religion as the the only possible solution to their problem is not only ridiculous, it is against just plain common sense.
Non 12 Step Rehab
Saturday, July 3rd, 2010Non 12 step rehabs are the latest advancement in the treatment of alcohol and substance abuse. Most offer various alternatives to the old Alcoholics Anonymous 12 step model which offers people choices. Since the success rate for people who attend a drug rehab program today is low. Part of the reason the success rate is so low is most rehabs put all their emphasis and the 12 step program of AA and or Narcotics Anonymous. The problem with that is the 12 steps were recently ruled to be religion. The other problem is that it make the person think that is the only support group out there. And the truth is it does not work for everyone. Find the right program
Non 12 Step Rehabs
Tuesday, June 8th, 2010The best treatment centers these days are non 12 step. They come right out and say we are a non 12 step based program. There are many reasons why this is so important. Probably at the top of the list is 99% of today’s treatment centers are religious in nature. That is right. They are based on the 12 steps of AA. And in the 12 steps, you are required to turn your life over to God. Does that sound like religion to you? The other concern is Alcoholics Anonymous is not treatment. Treatment is supposed to be about therapy. And any AA member would never even begin to say that AA had anything to do with therapy.
Non 12 Step
Thursday, May 27th, 2010What difference does it make whether a drug rehab is 12 step or non 12 step based? When you are talking about alcoholism and drug addiction, you are talking about a matter of life or death. Some addicts and or alcoholics may only get one clear chance to find recovery from their disease. Non 12 step based treatment centers seem to understand that the AA 12 step approach may not work for everybody. The statistics are very clear. The 12 steps of AA work for some, but not all. Not by a long shot. So, if a treatment center really wants as many of its patients to find lasting recovery, they had better offer both a non 12 step as well as a 12 step approach to how to stay clean and sober.
Federal Court Rules in Favor of Non 12 Step Rehab
Friday, May 7th, 2010Recently, the drug rehab industry was set straight about whether or not the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous were religiously oriented and therefore faith based. A federal judge ruled an inmate, who was a devout atheist, could not be required to complete a rehab program that was based on the 12 steps. What this means, of course, is 99% of the drug rehabs in America are religiously oriented. And it does raise the question of separation of church and state when it comes to state and federal funding for 12 step based programs. Drug rehab, such as Malibu Horizon, should be about treatment and learning to live a clean and sober lifestyle, not about religion. Forcing drug addicts and alcoholics to take a big dose of religion, as the primary solution to their problem, might be why their rate of success is so low.
Non 12 Step Rehab Programs
Thursday, April 15th, 2010If you didn’t see our last blog, you missed the federal ruling which made it unconstitutional to require an atheist to complete a 12 step rehab program. I am all in favor of 12 step programs. Personally, I think they are a great way to stay clean and sober. The point is they are, in fact based on faith in a higher power. And for most, that is God. Non 12 step rehab programs understand that 12 step programs are not treatment. And the odds are a serious drug addict and or alcoholic does not want to hear that God is the answer, even it is true.
