INSPIRE MALIBU TREATS ADDICTION WITH SCIENCE, NOT FAITH

ADDICTION INNOVATOR DR. AKIKUR MOHAMMAD’S INSPIRE MALIBU IS BEING CALLED THE FUTURE OF SECULAR ADDICTION TREATMENT

Dr. Akikur Mohammad, Founder of Malibu Horizon, the leading non 12-step treatment center in Malibu, California and Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences at the University of Southern California (USC.edu), today announced that the recent opening of Inspire Malibu is indicative of the country’s need for not only a community approach to treatment, but also a growing demand for a recovery model that treats addiction with science, not religion.

Utilizing a team of the industry’s top addiction and behavior experts, Inspire Malibu has garnered a great deal of recent national attention by becoming the first true recovery community to treat everything from food addiction to substance abuse in one communal facility, and with a purely scientific approach.

Dr. Mohammad said, “It is critical that Inspire Malibu provides a non faith-based option for treatment to protect an individual’s constitutional rights, which state that religion shall not be forced upon them, but also for the simple fact that not everyone has a belief in God or religion – a fact that must be respected.” Mohammad added, “Frankly. We are dealing with the disease of addiction and like any disease recognized by the American Medical Association, the most effective, logical and accepted approach is one based in science, not religion. I will never discount the value of faith; however, we treat diabetes with a steady course of medicine, not prayer and the disease of addiction must be approached with the same logic.”

Inspire Malibu’s non 12-step, non-religious, secular approach to recovery, coupled with their groundbreaking community model is recognized as the future of effective addiction treatment by industry insiders and Dr. Mohammad’s scientific approach is at the core of it’s success. “The addiction community has been derailed and distracted for many years by faith-based treatment tools and the patients have suffered. We are dealing with a medical disease and the primary course of treatment must be based in science, it is that simple,” added Mohammad.

Inspire Malibu will be featured in an upcoming CBS special – check the Inspire Malibu site for details.

ADDICTION PIONEER DR. AKIKUR MOHAMMAD LAUNCHES INSPIRE MALIBU – THE FIRST RECOVERY COMMUNITY OF ITS KIND

Friday, November 4th, 2011

Dr. Akikur Mohammad, Founder of Malibu Horizon, the leading non 12-step treatment center in Malibu, California and Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences at the University of Southern California (USC.edu), today announced the opening of Inspire Malibu, the first collective community approach to residential addiction treatment to open its doors in the U.S.

Utilizing a team of the world’s top experts and proven scientific methods, Inspire Malibu is the first true recovery community to treat everything from food addiction to substance abuse in one communal facility. Located on the most exclusive property in Malibu, California, Inspire Malibu is being touted as the most advanced treatment model of its kind and is already recognized as the future of addiction treatment. A comprehensive addiction compound, Inspire Malibu is a cutting-edge treatment system to date, providing onsite detox, outpatient and residential treatment, and the finest expert addiction team available in one location.

Dr. Mohammad said, “Our team’s continued focus on using advanced medication for detox and to control cravings, our proprietary Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) models, our pure respect for the science of addiction and our truly individualized, holistic approach to addressing the critical therapeutic needs of Inspire Malibu’s patients, are critical parts of the equation; however, we are changing the landscape of treatment because we have eliminated the marketing poison traditional treatment centers have used for decades – addiction is a disease and must be treated with science, not religion!” Mohammad added, “While there is a very real place for the 12-step model in recovery, it is a self-help model, not a critical piece of the treatment blueprint and if it weren’t for many years of deceptive marketing, there would be many more treatment centers willing to be honest with patients and families about the fact that the 12-step model isn’t the best option for everyone. Our patients respond to the way we empower them with knowledge, not the message of powerlessness they hear in AA, the difference is profound.”

Inspire Malibu’s non 12-step, non-religious, secular approach to recovery, coupled with their groundbreaking community model has already delivered such prolific results that the community’s waiting list is daunting. “We will continue to add property and facilities to the Inspire Malibu community until we are treating everyone that wants to lead an abuse-free lifestyle. I have worked with traditional facilities for decades and what we are seeing with our new Inspire Malibu model is profound. We are building a recovery campus and we don’t have patients, we have students. All of which are unlocking the life they were supposed to lead by finding strength and a new brand of support in the community itself. The experience is humbling for us all,” said Mohammad.

Malibu Drug Rehab Offers Modern Treatment

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

Why are the rehabs in Malibu California more successful? It is mainly because they take a much more holistic, modern approach. Addiction and alcoholism have been around for centuries. What has changes is new discoveries in how to treat it successfully. The research now indicates people need to be treated for all psychiatric problems as well as their compulsive drug seeking if they are going to have their best chance at recovery. Malibu drug rehabs understand not only this holistic approach, they also understand that addicts and alcoholics are sick, not bad, and deserve to be treated with the same dignity and respect as anyone with a fatal disease.

Malibu Rehab Treat Co-Occurring Depression

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

Why is treating a co-occurring mood disorder, like depression, so important to the drug alcohol rehab process. It might very well be the reason why more patients are unsuccessful at long term recovery. The truth is, many alcoholics and drug addicts are self-medicating themselves. They are using drugs and or alcohol to self soothe a undiagnosed  and or improperly treated psychological condition. With that having been said, it should be considered a crime not to properly address the cause of a drug addict or alcoholic’s behavior. Yet, that is exactly what happens at far too many drug rehab programs, in spite of the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Visit Malibu Horizon

Malibu Drug Rehab Treatment At Its Best

Saturday, May 22nd, 2010

Malibu has come to mean the good life. Most people who can afford to live in Malibu can life the life of the rich and famous.  So it should not come as much of a surprise to learn there are some really nice rehab treatment centers in Malibu California. Actually, there are 19 of them at last count. That is a lot. Yes they are expensive. And yes, the level of care and services is well above average. Most Malibu rehab treatment centers offer better food, better accommodations and a higher level of drug alcohol treatment than other programs. Keep in mind, however, long term sobriety and abstinence cannot be bought at any price. It is something you have to learn and earn.

Federal Court Rules in Favor of Non 12 Step Rehab

Friday, May 7th, 2010

Recently, the drug rehab industry was set straight about whether or not the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous were religiously oriented and therefore faith based. A federal judge ruled an inmate, who was a devout atheist, could not be required to complete a rehab program that was based on the 12 steps. What this means, of course, is 99% of the drug rehabs in America are religiously oriented. And it does raise the question of separation of church and state when it comes to state and federal funding for 12 step based programs. Drug rehab, such as Malibu Horizon, should be about treatment and learning to live a clean and sober lifestyle, not about religion. Forcing drug addicts and alcoholics to take a big dose of religion, as the primary solution to their problem, might be why their rate of success is so low.
