In case your not sure what dual diagnosis means, join the club. Most people have never heard of dual diagnosis, let alone know its meaning. You might guess it means when a person have 2 or more diagnosis, and that is correct. Specifically, it refers to someone who suffers from both alcohol or substance abuse and some kind of psychiatric problem too. The majority of people who abuse drugs and or alcohol are doing so to self medicate and self soothe a mental disorder. It is also known as a co-occurring condition. When someone reaches the point where they need to go to rehab, it better be a dual diagnosis rehab, and they most certainly need to have other issues correctly diagnosed and treated. Otherwise, the person will have not resolved the underlying cause and will almost certainly be back using again.

Dual Diagnosis Rehab Is A Must For Most
Tuesday, November 17th, 2009Drug Treatment Saves Lives
Tuesday, August 25th, 2009Drug addiction is a fatal disease. You either wise up, are locked up or get covered up, that’s about the size of it. Still, going through the process of drug treatment is not fun. But neither is jail or the morgue. I talk with a lot of people who tell me they have tried drug rehab several times and it does not work. And I know they are telling me the truth. Ironically, an addict is probably the worst candidate for doing everything necessary to succeed in recovery. But when your life and freedom are literally on the line, some humans can often find a new gear. And that’s generally what it takes to make it.
Drug Treatment Centers Aren’t All Bad
Wednesday, August 5th, 2009Nobody in their right mind gets up and says, “I think I’ll go to a drug treatment center for 30 days”. Drug centers are for people who have suffered a lot of pain. And pain, in this case isn’t all bad. Addicts are some of the nicest people in the world. Unfortunately, they are also some of the sickest. That’s right, addiction is a disease, a brain disease. Going to a treatment center and rehabilitation is no guarantee of successful recovery. This disease is very sneaky and will trip up the addict if given half a chance. Drug centers can only do so much to get the addict on the right road and headed in the right direction. The rest is up to the person to make recovery their number one priority, forever.
Michael Jackson Died From Brain Disease
Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009Maybe I missed it, but I have not seen the real truth about Michael Jackson’s death come out yet. The truth is Michael Jackson died from a fatal brain disease, that is right. And the thing that is a shame is that everyone close to him knew he had it and as far as I know, NOT ONE OF THEM did enough about it. Wait, there is more to the story. Part of the brain disease Michael Jackson had made it difficult if not virtually impossible for Michael to get the medical help he so obviously needed, on his own. Oh I saw a story today where supposedly Elizabeth Taylor tried to help Michael. So maybe it wasn’t everybody who knew him. Michael Jackson could be alive today if only someone close to him would have stepped up and helped him get treated for his fatal brain disease. And what was the brain disease? The fatal brain disease Michael Jackson had was what is known as drug addiction, a very treatable, beatable disease that can be put and kept in remission.
Doing 30 Days in an Addiction Center
Tuesday, July 21st, 2009People say going to a 30 day drug addiction treatment center is a big waste of time and money. People who say ” I am not going to go to rehab because it does not work”, do not know what they are talking about. And they are using it as a lame excuse to not go. The truth is 30 days of inpatient rehab is the ideal way to start down the road of successful recovery. It is true not everyone who goes to drug rehab is successful. Those who do not make it in recovery, fail because they were unwilling to give it 100%. Since, addiction is a fatal disease, I like the odds of doing 30 days of rehab, as opposed to the absolute certainty of death from the disease called drug addiction.
