When you consider how much effort goes into being a heavy drinker of alcohol, you realize what is at stake here. Treatment for someone who is abusing alcohol is not much fun, granted. However, alcoholism is a fatal disease. If saving their own live isn’t enough, consider the people around them. Alcohol abuse is a family problem. It impacts the whole family, not just the person doing the drinking. Alcohol abuse treatment will not only save the life of the one doing the drinking, it will save the lives of everyone around them from the horrific effects of being a drunk. And let’s not forget the innocent driver who gets killed just because they happen to be sharing the same road with someone who drank and drove once too often, that just ain’t right.

They are escaping from feelings, problems and their lives in general. So what is wrong with taking a getaway trip for a few hours? Well, in theory there is nothing wrong with it. The question is why does someone feel the need to use alcohol as an escape in the first place? The real trouble with getting drunk is when their decision to drink heavily effects other people. And that is something most alcohol abusers rarely, if ever, consider.
