Non 12 Step Rehab Programs

The 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous have saved more lives than seat belts. It is one of the real “miracles” of the the 20th century. But this is the 21st century. And alcohol and drug rehab has been around for over 75 years. It is time to see that drug rehab has to contain more therapy and less AA. Non 12 step rehab programs offer more real treatment. And in a world where drugs and alcohol have become more available, rehabs have a bigger job to do. The time has come to put the 12 steps where they belong, as the way to stay clean and sober, after rehab and treatment is completed.

Non 12 step rehab treatment centers are way ahead of the curve. The vast majority of alcohol drug rehabs make the 12 steps of alcoholics anonymous the primary focus of their programs. In today’s crazy world, people in rehab need much more than getting taken to lots of AA meetings and talking about the 12 steps. Research now indicates unless an addict or alcoholic gets cognitive behavioral therapy and proper diagnosis of any and all co-occurring disorders, they are at very high risk of relapse.
