Millions of Americans drink alcohol on a fairly regular basis. And for most of them it is not a problem. A drinking problem can be a tricky thing to determine. Partly because the person who does have a problem with drinking alcohol usually has a hard time determining it for themselves. Here is the best way to determine of someone has a drinking problem, or not. If they suffered any legal, martial or job consequences as the result of drinking alcohol, or seemed preoccupied with drinking, or they drink more than they planned or should, they probably have a problem. If they answered yes to any of these questions, they need to get some help.

How to Know If Someone Has a Drinking Problem
Sunday, August 9th, 2009Life Inside Drug Rehab Centers
Friday, August 7th, 2009It seems part of the reason people are reticent about going to drug rehab centers is they have no clue what to expect. To a drug addict, spending any time away from their drug of choice sounds more than a little scary. The truth is most drug rehab treatment centers are decent places, run by good people. One thing to keep in mind is they are a business. So funding is a major factor. Most days consist of lots of group therapy. In some places clients even get to meet with a counselor for some one to one. You can always leave the facility, but don’t expect your money back, at least not right away. And most of all, keep in mind, the experience will be about as good or about as bad, as the attitude and the effort of the person.
Drug Treatment Centers Aren’t All Bad
Wednesday, August 5th, 2009Nobody in their right mind gets up and says, “I think I’ll go to a drug treatment center for 30 days”. Drug centers are for people who have suffered a lot of pain. And pain, in this case isn’t all bad. Addicts are some of the nicest people in the world. Unfortunately, they are also some of the sickest. That’s right, addiction is a disease, a brain disease. Going to a treatment center and rehabilitation is no guarantee of successful recovery. This disease is very sneaky and will trip up the addict if given half a chance. Drug centers can only do so much to get the addict on the right road and headed in the right direction. The rest is up to the person to make recovery their number one priority, forever.
Addiction is a Form of Slavery
Sunday, August 2nd, 2009Once you realize addiction is a form of slavery, freedom becomes a real possibility. Many addicts find themselves enslaved and powerless to stop using drugs every day. Drug addicts are imprisoned by their mind’s need to repeat the satisfaction caused by using drugs. At some point they stop questioning whether they even want to use drugs, and simply go on auto pilot. The drug then owns them and is their master. Over the years, scientists have discovered addiction is a brain disease, not just a bad habit. The human brain needs to fulfill its need to maintain what it perceives as normal, which for the addict means triggering dopamine and the euphoric feelings of well being it creates. The first step to freedom is an awareness of being a slave to the addiction followed by the real willingness to be free.
