I am always surprised by how easily people remain enslaved to people, places and things. Alcohol dependence starts out as taking a few drinks every once in a while. Dependency upon alcohol usually creeps into the fabric of their life ever so slowly. Drinking alcohol gradually becomes more and more of a regular occurrence. Independence from physical and or psychological reliance on alcohol starts with awareness of the reality of the condition. Some need more than just the realization. In those cases, joining Alcoholics Anonymous or some other support group help with stopping drinking. At first, life might seem rather boring. Some people have a hard time handling their new found freedom without their liquid crutch. Give time time, life will inevitably improve.

Independence from Alcohol Dependence
Friday, July 10th, 2009Why Seek Alcoholism Treatment?
Thursday, July 9th, 2009The disease of alcoholism is nothing new. About 100 years ago, the term alcoholism was coined by a physician and thus began a new era in the perception of people labeled as “drunks”. So, why seek treatment of alcoholism cannot be cured? It’s simple. Alcoholism, like many other fatal diseases, like cancer alcoholism can be put into remission. Like cancer, by following the suggested practices and procedures, alcoholism can be put into a state of remission, and the person can go ahead and lead a “normal” life. Although most experts would agree, the process of getting sober and staying sober is not easy, it is much better than the alternative, which is death, insanity or be thrown in jail. Seems like a “no-brainer”.

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009When you consider how much effort goes into being a heavy drinker of alcohol, you realize what is at stake here. Treatment for someone who is abusing alcohol is not much fun, granted. However, alcoholism is a fatal disease. If saving their own live isn’t enough, consider the people around them. Alcohol abuse is a family problem. It impacts the whole family, not just the person doing the drinking. Alcohol abuse treatment will not only save the life of the one doing the drinking, it will save the lives of everyone around them from the horrific effects of being a drunk. And let’s not forget the innocent driver who gets killed just because they happen to be sharing the same road with someone who drank and drove once too often, that just ain’t right.
Alcohol Treatment is a Very Good Thing

It will ultimately kill the person, one way or the other. People who come to the point of realizing they have an alcohol problem to be willing to change the way they live. Rehab for Alcohol is Not a Bad Thing
Wednesday, July 1st, 2009Alcohol rehab is not all bad. For one thing, alcoholism is a fatal disease. So, believe it or not your drinking is going to eventually kill the person with a drinking problem, one way or the other. There are only three alternatives for someone with a drinking problem; sober up, get covered up or get locked up. Getting sober and going to rehab is by far, the lesser of the those three options. Alcohol rehab is no fun, I understand. It is, however, the right first step of getting out of the nightmare of alcohol abuse. Alcohol rehab is a lot like going to school. And believe it or not, there is a lot to learn. It could be worse, jail is no picnic. And death, well,we all know that’s the end of the line.
